Road Trip...

Up to Prescott we drove to celebrate my Nonie turning 80! We decided to go up early so we could take a little hike. It was such a beautiful and relaxing drive up to Thumb Butte.. We had the windows down... there is absolutely nothing better then the smell of the forest and snow...
We got to the hiking spot with our favorite hiking guide, Uncle Lance..
The scenery was breathtaking...
and the kids had a blast throwing snow balls!
When we were exploring we cam across this HUGE snowman..
Kyle modified him a bit ...
so of course that prompted the kids to make a snowman of their own..
ours not so tall..hehe I think it was barely 6 inches...weak I know...
Then it was time to toast the party girls! Happy 80th Birthday Nonie!! We love you so very much! And Happy 85th Birthday to Aunt Jo! We love you too!

It was so crazy seeing the kids sitting in these chairs.. the same ones my cousins and my sister and I sat in when we were little..truly vintage..
We had a great visit and are planning another trip up where we can take the whole day and hike Thumb Butte. The kids are really getting into this whole hiking thing.. might have to invest in some real hiking shoes for them!

Lately our house has been filled with Knights and Faries......

So we thought a trip to the Renaissance Festival would be fun....
This was our first time going so we weren't exactly sure what to expect
One of the main reasons we went was so Luke could see a joust..
He was really excited as we were waiting for the show to begin

I was more intrigued in watching this guy sell pretzels..

The joust was pretty entertaining..Luke loved it, but Hailie Girl wasn't so sure about it..
When we were leaving the jousting show I asked Hailie how she liked it and she kind of looked up at me weird like she was trying to think of something nice to say and then she said, "the ponies were pretty... "

so cute

Then Luke and Hailie got to experience their own joust!
a butterfly ride for Hailie..then a turkey leg for Luke completed our fun filled day at the Reniassance..

Dreams Shattered...
I have been looking for new bedding for awhile now..
and then it happened..I stumbled upon this bedding online..
it matched what I had envisioned exactly.. I was so excited..
It is from Eileen Fisher's bedding collection.. the quilt is their Cotton Voile Honeycomb Quilt in Clay...

It is perfection...Enter my bad luck..
I clicked on the link to purchase my fluffy..heavenly bedding and
it appeared that the items were no longer available.. no...please no...
Okay, stay calm.. quick Google search will come up with something...nope..
Okay..relax..quick ebay search for sure will bring me my bedding..nada..
NOOO..
Went to Eileen Fisher online and emailed their customer service..surely someone can help..
Received email stating they extensively researched the system and my bedding is no longer available..but offered a glimmer of hope listing 4 outlet stores that may have it in their store..
Biting my lip.. phone ringing..
first store..no..second store..no..third store..no..fourth store..incredibly sorry..but no..
Why?? Why me?? Geez...
So sad.. unless someone comes up with a miracle..guess I am back to square one..

I love this lamp..side table and blue glass as well..would have looked so nice with my new bedding.. SIGH....

The Valentine's..

I decided for Luke and Hailie's Valentine's this year I would go for creative instead of store bought.. I saw on a blog (sorry, I can not for the life of me remember which one..) this idea to do crayon hearts...
Luke love's to color..Valentine's day is about love...thought we would give it a shot..

So I put him to work peeling crayons... this was the longest task of the project.. we were peeling crayons for hours... oh well...

Then I just bought one of those cool flexible candy molds.. it was at Joanne's for $9 and I used a 50% off coupon..thrifty me...

then you just break up the crayons and put in a 275 oven for 10 minutes..

They come out looking like this and you just let them set for a couple hours...
Once they are set you just pop them out and this is what you get.. Easy Peazy!
I loved the color combination's we ended up with..
A cute little saying and Luke's fantastic signature and we were done!

Then I moved on to Hailie's.. Butterflies of course..
I found this cute butterfly printable at this great blog called Skip to My Lou..
Just printed it out on colored card stock..bought some suckers and google eyes and we were set..

I was so tired from all of Luke's Valentine's though I kind of skipped the google eye part..
I just did not feel like sitting there and gluing on those tiny eyes..
In the end though Hailie didn't even care .. she had fun helping me cut out the butterflies and handing me the suckers to put in the slits...when we were done she said, "so cute mommy, I am so excited" ...phew
