getting ready for first grade and Pre-K 4

oh my..
school
I finally got around to working on some projects that I have been wanting to do..
not exactly new brilliant ideas, but man once school gets going it can get hectic with all the things you need to keep track of..homework assignments..permission slips..bring this, send that..all you parents know the drill..
I needed to get my act together for this year..
So this wall in the main hub of our home went from this..

to this... I know nothing too dramatic but one
$10 cork board I had from Target..
$1 Wooden letters I found at Michaels that I painted with a dark brown/black paint I had and then glued tiny nails to the back so they would stick into the cork board and then I found that cool Dror clipboard from Target.. 3 bucks..
I am hoping this will help create a little less chaos by being able to pin up reminders of what is going on that week and what everyone needs to bring and then using the clipboard for things that need to be signed and that I would like Kyle to look at...

then I had this little guy that I found at Michaels for $1 and thought it would be the perfect little holder for the push pins..

then I had been looking for a mirror with hooks for the front entry way and was having a difficult time finding something that looked good but didn't cost a fortune and then Kyle of all people, found this one at of all places Walmart..and for like 20 bucks..serious..done deal.
I was pretty happy with the results.. now the boys hats are all in one place instead of scattered all over the house.. I hang my keys on the hook so I always know where they are and then my favorite Jcrew tote that I use for everything! (thanks mom!)


the kids backpacks all ready to go.. bought Hailie one this year as they asked that they start bringing one to prepare them for Kindergarten..
with Luke I was going to buy him a new one but dang that Pottery Barn Kids one I got him last year for Kindergarten still really looks great and he loves it.. so I couldn't justify buying him a new one..
I feel a little more prepared for school to begin now...

Happy Birthday Little Miss Hailie Girl..

looks like we had a lot of fun at a local water park that we decided to have her party at.. right?
and it was in the end...
but it had a rough start with the birthday girl and all of our guests standing out in the 115 degrees heat waiting for the employees to get it together and open the dang park and figure out that we had the party reserved and paid for..with all the kids and two pregnant sister in laws I was NOT happy and I pretty much let them have it..
then poor Hailie Girl got sick from the heat ..
but moving forward..
I think everyone ended up having a fun time and Hailie bounced back and blew out all her birthday candles before she went playing in the water ans declared when it was over and we were in the car that she had a fun birthday party..

we came home and she started going through all her presents...
she went straight for her American Girl matching ballet outfits..

all the cute Little Miss Hailie Girl Birthday Party decorations were done by the amazing Jeniene..she has her Etsy shop Ciao Bambino.. and she is fantastic to work with..


then she decided to come down and give us a rock concert with her new Hannah Montana guitar !! Look at that costume!
I mean seriously can you get ANY cuter.. Look out Hannah Montana I think Hailie is the next big thing in 2020!

now it's time to say goodbye..

after my sisters beautiful wedding..

we had a couple more days in Chicago where we got to squeeze in time for some fun family activities..
The kids loved the Lincoln Park Zoo..

then off to American Girl to do a little birthday shopping for Hailie Girl..

she was enamored by all of the shoe choices...

she came out a very happy little shopper..

then off to Millennium Park we went

We met Auntie Melissa and Uncle Mike there for some water fun!

a nice ending to our week in Chi Town..
